How to Boost Engagement on Facebook: Data on Adventure Posts

By now we’ve all seen the effects of the latest Facebook algorithm on content reach. It’s important to keep content fresh on your page, but more than ever, it’s important to create content that will engage your audience. To extremely simplify a Facebook plan, think of it like this:

Engaging content = Audience interaction = More Facebook reach

The next step is figuring out the best time to post your wonderfully engaging content. There is a lot of information out there proclaiming optimal days and times to post, but it really comes down to seeing what works for you. There is no such thing as one size fits all. If you’re not sure where to start tracking your efforts, check out this great post.

Once you’ve got a handle on your own efforts, it’s good to look at the industry overall. After all, you are trying to gain new customers outside your current audience. Adventure tourism is a unique industry where consumers will not interact the same as they would, say with Starbucks. That being said, we’ve been working somewhat hard all summer, and have analyzed over 5,000 Facebook posts made by rafting companies to give you an idea of optimal time trends in the industry.

Here’s a snippet of the information we found. In the chart you’ll find a simple breakdown of the days and times with the most Likes for the top 25 posts. As you can see, Monday afternoons are a prime time to post, if Likes are what you’re after. No surprise Saturday mornings are out of the question, but good ol’ hump day is another time to get people thinking about their next adventure.
